An atmospheric harbour scene depicting boats drawn up along rocky shores as the tide recedes, with soft light spreading across calm water and distant shoreline architecture. In the composition, small working vessels and figures are arranged with quiet balance, while the gentle handling of sky and reflection lends a sense of stillness and continuity. The subdued palette and measured brushwork are characteristic of early 19th-century Dutch coastal painting, evoking the slow rhythms of maritime life.

Frame: Gilt composition frame with corner ornamentation; surface wear, losses and patina consistent with age. Top left corner has been damaged but sympathetically touched up.
Condition: Good antique condition overall; age-related surface wear and marks, with stable paint surfaces and pleasing tonality.
