A large spectacular 19th-century Continental School oil on canvas depicting a bustling Dutch town street beside a canal bridge. Townsfolk gather along the cobbled road—women, children, and a man with a handcart—set against gabled houses, tiled rooftops, and a distinctive clock tower rising into a lively clouded sky. The artist captures both architectural detail and everyday life, with warm tones in the brickwork offset by the cool shadows of the bridge and water below. Signed lower left (indistinct, possibly “Van…”).
